SUCCESSFUL ACTIVITIES & IDEAS TRIED BY CLUBS IN OUR DISTRICT
A LIFETIME GIFT
(RC Swan Hill)
Prepare a presentation folder for the Student containing photo’s; school reports and school newsletter; Rotary Club Bulletins; Host Family photos and memoirs; any other suitable items.

To be presented at last Rotary Club Meeting attended by the Student.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
(RC Ballarat)
Club social meeting including a Bus trip to the MCG to watch a game of Australian Rules Football. Birthday Cake, song and presentation of a small gift during the drive to Melbourne.

(RC Swan Hill)
If possible have the closest Rotary meeting as a “party” with a National flavour. Make a presentation of a small gift from Club.

NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATIONS
(RC Swan Hill)
Find out from the Student when their National Day occurs and have a special presentation at the closest Rotary Meeting i.e. student talk on what it means, tape of their National Anthem, Toast to their country and take some photos which are emailed to their parents/guardians at home.

GUESS WHO WANTS TO COME TO YOUR HOME FOR DINNER?
(RC Ballarat)
After the Student has settled in to the Club and their after-hours diary is known, circulate a clip board at several Club Meetings seeking hosts for 1 dinner per week in their home. Host family to provide transport to the Dinner and Dinner Host to return Student to Host Family at the conclusion of the evening. Where possible nominate a preferred night so that the Host family and the Student can establish a regular routine. A very positive outcome was achieved for all concerned.

PLEASE SHARE YOUR CLUB'S GREAT IDEAS BY EMAILING A BRIEF DESCRIPTION TO THE DISTRICT YE COMMITTEE SECRETARY. DON'T FORGET TO TELL US WHICH CLUB IT COMES FROM.
